Word of Mouth advertising

Do you all talk about your online businesses/Web sites with people you encounter on a day-to-day basis or do you mostly network and advertise your businesses online? The site I'm developing is best to be marketing online, but talking to people face to face about it should get them online to look at the site.

How about you guys?

Viral marketing is a very powerful advertising tool.
However, I don't usually use it in real life myself.
It's hard to convince somebody when he/she does not even believe in the existence of business opportunities for normal people like you and me.

I promote my business in many ways. I have found that it is very helpful to talk about my business online and offline. I never bore people but rather look for opportunities.

yes, word of mouth certainly helps but more than that there is this media that can do wonders for your website. try out webinars and podcasts online and guess your half done with your site promotion!

Its certainly a nice way to advertise and it is even free. Just imagine, if you tell someone about your website, he will tell 5 more people, and these 5 people will tell 25 more people and this chain will continue

I sure hope that's true. That makes it even more important to have a good site. Word would get around.

i did not even tell about my bussiness to my relatives; I think there is no gain at all so thats why i am focusing more on online advertising; You can get easily 1000 advertisers online but i do not think you will ever get 100 by the word of mouth.

It is important that you actually want people you know going to your site. If you feel that you have a site that your friends/family wouldn't be interested in then don't bother. All they will do is look at you if you have a 3rd eyeball.

If you have a fun/exciting site which can benefit your friends/family then tell them.

I personally have no fun sites anymore so I don't tell anyone I know.

Viral Marketing is the best. But it is extremely hard and you will fail if you don't know what you are doing.

It's very hard to use word of mouth especially if your market is international. People who go online will usually use search engines to find what they are looking for so concentrate in SERPS.
