And why?
I prefer vBulletin because off easy using

Yes i prefer Vbulleting in paid forum script

When i go to Open Source i prefer SMF is the best one !

Yes, VFS is best from open source scripts

I prefer SMF. phpBB is also nice but due to the number of security problems being reported made me skip using this one.

I would go for phpBB as well if to choose among open source things, you can have a look at the the big-boards.com list and see their popular phpBB forums functioning pretty well.

I am using MyBB and Punbb.

Maybe buy a VB at the right time later.

Been using phpBB for a while now. Yes, there are some glitches but can easily be fixed with the countless mods available. I guess the newer version (phpbb 3.0) when out of beta would be one of the best free forum scripts.
