Is submitting directories wrong?

I have a blog. I want to submit it to the free and paid directories that is accepting blogs. I want to know whether google will penalize my blog if submit my blog to free and paid directories. I was concerned after the recent pagerank issue that google did!

i don't think google might have any dispute with directory submission, why do you believe so?

Submitting to directories is fine, and will help you rank for your anchor text. It will also help your PR.

it can't to any harm.
worst case is that google won't take into account some of the links, probably from the free directories.

I never heard that google take action on submission to the directories. In contrast, it will boost up the traffic for sure.

You absolutely can submit your blog into directories, just not 5000 per day. That's the rule of Google!

As long as you do is slowly and only choose quality directories, I don't see any harm. Avoid to build all the submissions overnight.

There is nothing wrong with directory submission, you can add your site to free directories to gain backlinks , while you can add your site to big paid directories to gain traffic and PR.

I don't think that submitting in to the directories would bring harm to your site. Instead it would generate backlinks, which will improve your page rank
