I never get traffic from forum postings.
I only ever add links in my sig if the forum's like Digitalpoint or something.
Someone said something to me about it helping you with rankings or PR... Is that right?

Links in forums do help increase the number of backlinks for your site.

I think you have the ability to increase traffic to your site if you are a good, contributing member to a forum - people look at you as an authority and they are more willing to trust your site recommendations.

Yes it absolutly works. We do receive the back link bulding correct, however in our case we are selling a service to make others money for their business, so the click rates from our posts on forums including this forum work really well.
Of course busier the frum the busier the actual click to our site rate.

You always get a backlink when you add a link in your forum signature and they build up quite quickly when you signup at many forums and post a lot. The traffic is not much but hey.. it is quite targeted traffic, I personally love forum signature links.

I'll tell you why I love forum signatures - because the more that you post and the more that people get to know you, the more they will trust the services you recommend.

I am very discriminatory regarding the sites that I am willing to affiliate myself with, which is why I have a lot of success with my signature links. When people get to know me and they see what I promote, there is an inherent trust that exists. I don't have to "sell" anything because my reputation does the selling for me.
