Which is more potentially profitable?

I'm going to register for a new domain this week, but the only thing holding me back is this: which one is more likely to have more traffic: a directory or a classifieds?

Hard question in my opinion. I would want to say the directory though. Classifieds are over saturated in the industry, not that directories arent, but directories are easier to handle.

Hmm... classifieds or directories.

Difficult question and as Trexhost said both are saturated. Well if I were you I would have started both on the same domain I like to do things differently & I'm sure there is no site offering both.

May I should charge you something for my idea :P

It is definitely a difficult question. I have most experience with directories so I'd recommend them over the classifieds, they are easy to setup and market.

That's what I'm going for Positive, I've decided to go with the Directory instead of the classifieds idea. It's a lot easier to set up and domainers are always looking for free advertising through directories.

I Both equal. You will have to do lot of hard work to get something out of either one of them. All will depends on your SEO and marketing skills.
