you will have to purchase license of cPanel or any other control panel, fantastico if u want. All these will cost much money.
So its better to get a paid hosting

I guess if you have lots of sites getting a dedicated server is a wise investment but for one or two sites it is best to just get a paid hosting.

First of all You have to install a http client that my be IIS on Windows or Apache
2ndly you have to setup an FTP server you can search for them at google Most popular is PureFtpD

3rdly If you want to Setup your server to Support PHP download PHP from www.php.net

You must have to setup any Database ..so mysql is best try downloading from www.mysql.com

And the final step is to setup Hosting panel that is Cpanel or Vista Panel or Zpanel

If you are technically efficient in Linux, Unix or Windows Server, a dedicated server isn't a bad choice if you plan to host a lot of sites, or a few high bandwidth/CPU sites. If you do get a dedicated server, generally they do come pre-set with some things like Apache, PHP, perhaps CPanel to get you started. Perhaps tell us a little more about what kind of thing you are planning to do...

On the off chance that you meant a server for home use, testing and developement, I strongly reccommend one of the xampp distribtions.

You can have your own php/mysql server on your desktop or laptop to use for script developement and testing.

I personally prefer the manual install and would be happy to ramble on about it if anyone is interested.
