Contest Ideas

I am currently starting a forum. Right now I am at the stage of putting up the initial posts and will soon begin to promote it.I really want to run a few contests but want to stay away from a most posts sort of thing. I also don't want it to be subjective like the best post. Anyone have any ideas?

If you don't want most posts or best post then you can organize a contest for best forum contributor, One who is helpful to other forum members, one who is online most of the time in your forum creating creative and meaningful posts..

You could add a game to your website and have people submit the score and discuss the games. I ve seen people making a load of money from game related forums.Good luck

You can give freebies to attract users to post in your forum That would be the best way to promote it.

The best way to promote it is to be active on many forums at the same time.
What you need to do is make a page on your website with a list of forums where you are active and each time you visit a forum and post something about your contest, you would go to that page, which could be password protected, and mark that you already posted on them.
Link exchange with a banned hosted on your server is always a great deal. All you need to do is change the banner to what you are promoting.
Having a newsletter on your website is also a great idea. Each time you are running a contest you would contact your subscribers and let them know.
Try not to send more than one email a week.
Also content is the best way to get people to visit your website and spend time on it. If people visit your website and don't find anything interesting next time they visit it again they will just click off and move on to another website
