How to save yourself from DDOS?

Hey all,

I had few ddos attacks on my server earlier that makes me loose money. I know that competitors and unhappy users of the site do this - i even caught one in real life (because he lives in my country and i could get his contacts), but you cant catch everyone and i would like to ask you what is the way to save my website from ddos attacks?

you can use ip deny manager. right ?
also its better to check with hosts so that they can manage

your host can help you in this matter, plus you can use various ip deny managers etc. many BIG sites are facing this problem too..

Yep, as said before, go for the ip-manager lol. just keeps them out, if problems keep rolling in talk to your host about it. And if you catch somebody as you said you did, i believe you can take legal action

there is a website called geo.tv , it has got to face many ddos attacks, especially in the emergency crisis period in pakistan.

I do not know why someone decided to DDOS irc.dragonchat.org. I can tell you that we have new management. Justin has stepped down as IRC OP due to stress. Ox_king is the new admin, I'm co-founder. We have not done anything to anyone. We are minding our own business. If you have a grudge, please contact us. We will be happy to settle it without hurting our users. We may be small, but we have dedicated users who you are hurting. I don't see the point in hurting someone's peaceful network. Yeah, I said peaceful. I know Dragonchat has been controverisal in the past, but those days are over. If you need to attack something, please try attacking someone else. Get a server from place, that has really money to defend your servers. Rely on the most respected and best datacenters. After somebody DDOS'ses you, just contact the datacenter and they'll do the rest.
