Why is google so popular?

I'd like to know the answer to this question. Is it because it is the largest search engine? I find that I get better results from yahoo these days.

Well, according to Alexa and many other traffic estimators Yahoo.com is the most visited website on the web! But not all people who visit Yahoo.com go there to 'search the web'. They visit Yahoo to read other content and news on the site. But (almost) all people who use Google.com go there only to search the web, so Google.com is the #1 search engine on the web!
I like to use Google because it is easy, simple and fast!

I think because it is so un-complex because it doesn't have lots of content on the page so it's fast loading nad reliable.

i suppose, but i also think that people hear about it so much, that people just love it

but im opinion, ask is very good because you can see the pages before you actaully go onto them

I think Google is popular due to the fact that they offer many tools and good clean searching. Also, they have been around for a long time...

its easy to use, simple, and searches tons of pages.

Google is not popular beacuse it is the largest search engine but because it gives very specific answers to your queries. I even say to some ppl that google is my second guru

well for be google siet is clean, no adds, is like a empty search engine, yahoo has a lot of stuff.
I preffer to use google because always find what im searching and www.google.com is really fast, now yahoo take a little more time than previously version

i think it's because most people use internet to research and search things and since google.com contained billions of site's entries, it's so popular.

You are right webloard, but I think google is going to the wrong way.
Want everithing and this is not popular at all
a lot of ppl use windows but everybody hates bill.
so if google continue buying everithing , I predict that will loose popularity
