Web design career

I would like to pursue this career because I noticed that companies are looking for web designers everyday for their business. Currently, I am a graduating student. I would like to be a good web designer. What are the things I need to be a good web designer? Any tips you can share?

Are you graduating from highschool/college or university? I personally do freelance website designing as a part time job with absolutely no post secondary education (college). It is possible to learn it by yourself. You need a lot of experience though and you will encounter a lot of mistakes which you will learn from. If you are considering it as a full time job, not to be skeptical but it's very hard to find jobs in this field because it's already so saturated..

I agree that you can learn Web design yourself. Especially if you want to go into business for yourself. It's mostly about what you know. Not a piece of paper (diploma.)

Web designing is a good career. You can do this even if you don't go to school. It depends on the passion you have for this. If you really like it, you can learn this by yourself. Search for tutorials and e-book about this. Web designing can be done even if you're a freelancer. Employers would check on your work, not your diploma or any certificate.

you can make a career from web design .. but this isn`t for me...i will only create banners to get some extra $$$ i think of making a career from forex

Why don't you like web design? Do you have the skills for it.
I'd love to be really good at designing. I'd start my own business designing sites as well as my own.
