its very hard to get listed in it via FREE submission really
i only got once approved in my life

I think, i am having a better exp with them. i submitted 4 sites and one of them got approved with in month.

Some bad editors may accept money to get your site listed fast in DMOZ directory, but it's not worth the risk IMHO.
