Choosing a hosting comapny is depend on your websites. How many website you want to run? What is your plans? How big is your web sites? How much popularity this site can be? How you want to develope your website? What is the special thing of development in your site? And How long your site may/will continue?

If you have the following answers than i think you can get a better hosting. There are some websites where you'll find lots of web hosting reviews & ratings just select one from there. It is the best idea though.

Best Regards,

word of mouth works good for me. Find a good solid webmaster community, like this one, and then get to know the other people there. After a while you will find some people whose opinion you trust, and you can get recommendations from them.

Otherwise if you just do a search for reviews and give it a go, you are going to find things very hit and miss.

The best way to find a host is to search google for one or go on a recomendation, as soon as you have found the host you like search their name in google and check their reviews. If they are good reviews then you are safe but if their are negative reviews i would search again

Finding a good host is hard....

Keep in mind that searching google for hosting review sites doesn't work all the time.

This is because a lot of times hosting companies spend all of their time trying to get high reviews on every one of these sites...and if they are unnable to do so on a particular site they simply ask for their host to be removed. Some hosts even ask/require members to review their site (with a 100% positive review) for their hosting. (other companies will give people an increase in bandwidth/space for a positive review)

So you have to watch those kinds of sites.

What I would recommend is just trying different hosting companies. And that way you can see what one you like the best.

Just go with monthly plans, and try one host (if you like it, stay with it, if you don't like it try the next one)

well, in my perspective look for three main things...
check the server generally, go for linux
check the uptime
check the control panel
