Default Proxy sites and free hosting

Does anyone know why even most paid hosting sites do not allow proxy sites to be hosted in their servers? What are free hosting sites that allow this?

Not at all. there aren't Free hosting providers who do proxy hosting. Proxy sites take hellwa lot of bandwidth which is too much for both shared hosting providers and free hosting providers.

My teacher at college gave me a lecture on how proxy servers work...etc. The servers will eat up too much bandwidth and cpu because each user of your proxy site will download the images..etc of each webpage they visit through the proxy.

Does it say in their Terms and Conditions or on their website that they allow proxies? If yes then it won't be long until its banned.

It is because, proxy sites use up nearly 40% of the system resources. It is also because, it kills the processor speed. It doesn't really matter if its a php/cgi proxy site, it still slows the server down. Another thing is that if your on a shared hosting, it will slow down all the other sites on the network. The server has to be prepared to handle the high usuage of the proxy. The best solution is to get a dedicated server, with unmetered bandwidth.

Proxy sites needs just to many resources - no one wants them.
