It seems that web site advertising is fast becoming a tricky art form. On-page
SEO is easy to achieve, but it's the Off-page SEO that is, as Google wants it to be, dictated by Google. There has always been the easier 0ff-page SEO performed for Yahoo and MSN (now Windows Live) that was done secondly, after attacking Google. But with recent acknowledgment of Google's hate for "purchased links", and how much more PR (PageRank) has become the standard before reciprocating a linkback, Google has taken control out of our hands and into it's own, making an attack most difficult. So am I bashing Google? Nope. Simply stating that we as web developers and website promotion experts that offer search engine optimization tips need to keep aware of the latest tactics. What do you think? Last edited by espmartin : 08-03-2007 at 18:55. Reason: info |

Well, I wouldn't say that Google is controlling the SEO world but your point is true, Google is setting some web standards and regulations that are followed by other search engines of Yahoo and MSN, and naturally others.

I agree. Google is definitely dictating SEO. Since they're the biggest Search Engine, they're calling the shots. You can still get decent traffic from the other big search engines, like Yahoo and MSN, but there's just so many more people using Google you almost have to rely on them to rank your pages high.

Yes, and now with them discontinuing their "Supplemental tag" - we even have less tools to use against them...er...I mean, to use to rank with them

Google has the biggest share from web searches happen in net everyday. But If you get lot of traffic from yahoo and MSN and other alternative ways you don't have to relay on Google 100%.
