Default What's involved when "owning" a server?

Have you had an experience with dedicated servers?
I need to learn what to watch out for and what skills I should have to be able to run it without any glitches!

dedicated servers are easy to manage if you have knowledge on its operating system... well if your new on dedicated server you must choose a company that has a very decent and 100% for their support.

i'm now moving to a vps hosting from vpsbyte.com they also offer dedicated server.. i chose a managed server so if ever problem happens i can contact them..

a managed server is much higher price than a unmanaged vps server. the company will be responsible on your vps installations and upgrade while the unmanaged server is that they have no responsibliity on your vps..its like you own your pc... and the installations of programs and scripts will be at your own hands..
