What's the current value of 4-character domain name?

When I browse across forums, I've seen a lot of people looking to purchase 4-character domain name even though it may mean nothing like maybe kjyt[dot]com

Is there a good chance for this type of domain name to appreciate over time? Could it be a good investment? Please share your thoughts.

Hello - well, when you ask 4 character, there is a difference between a random 4 character domain and a 4 LETTER domain.

4 Letter .coms have been sold out, which is why the value has gone up on them over time. In my humble opinion, I think that 4 letter .com's (LLLL.com in "domainer speak") are a good long-term investment.

There are some factors to look at:
- what letters are there? Are they premium or non-premium?
- what is the pattern? CVCV? (consonant vowel consonant vowel) or CCCV, VCVC, VVVV, etc.
- Are there any repeating letters?

This is just scratching the surface with regard to LLLL.coms. There are entire websites dedicated to this subject.

Useless LLLL.com's usually price around 50$/ea if i'm not wrong...
One thing I dun get tho... wuts the difference if its a CCCV, VCVC or a VVVV???
It's still a word or a "word" at the end... :/
