Default What database program you use?

MySQL is certainly easier, and cheaper... but Oracle seems to be best database from all points of view. i've taken my Oracle Computer Programmer Licence last week, but still i don't know how to implement it on websites... any ideas that could be useful for me?

It really depends on what type of website you want to create. A simple site that has static content doesn't need a database. If you want to build something like a forum or maybe a blog a database would be good to use to store all the information.

My choice would be MySQL. Why? It's easy to use and easy to get one. Plus, it's easy to control as well.

Yes, I am using Mysql 5.0.45.

And it is free and popular; you can easily find many online help from formers.

I'll give another vote to MySQL. Understand that part of it is most people don't want to spend the money to get Oracle. So, you do have a unique skill that perhaps you could take advantage of there. But it would probably serve you well to learn MySQL too since it's so popular.

another vote in favour of MYSQL both for its ease of use as well as its free availability, but i will be taking a look at PostGreSQL as it is the best as per what i have heard on web in Free data base servers.

MySQL is pretty much the recommended database for websites. Oracle, while very powerful, is usually overkill for most applications. Also you don't really want to have a database administrator on call when it crashes and burns and it will at some point. Most MySQL problems can usually be fixed by the admin with a little knowhow. Also a lot of scripts use MySQL exclusively.

There is no doubt that the best database program would be mysql for the websites but it has its own ups and downs too. But Oracl is the best in terms of other uses than websites.
