What has brought you the most success in terms of marketing and advertising? I think that mostly forums and referals have worked the best for me.

Its mostly a combination of a lot of things! SEM, seo, forums, blogs and emails. cant omit anyone to get continuous success with online marketing!

Chandi has a point. Sometimes certain methods are going to work for you more than others so it's good to have a combination of things.

I have had the most success by SEO because it is free, somewhat easy, fast (not fast as PPC etc but still goof coz its free). After that I prefer PPC, use it whenever I need fast traffic relevant to my site.

Emails and forums. Though podcasts are going to be huge in Internet Marketing soon. . The more personal you can get, the better the results, that is why podcasting is going to be huge... because it is very personal.

How do you use email? Do you do an e-newsletter? How do you get it to not seem like spam mail?

40 % of my traffic comes from a single link-backlink or referral , I do not know how is called. And which is surprisingly is that i did not pay anything to publish my link on its website: He reviewed my site for free and published the url;This was the most successfully advertising option that i used; Followed by google search engine.

I just get them to opt in in my page and I send them mail. I always get their name so that I can be more personal and use it in the emails.

Forums for me is key. If you make friends from forums related to stuff about what your site is about, these people will want to visit your site and support you - many times without you having to ask them. Forums also allow you to utilize signature space.
