Default Directory Submissions

Do you spend some of your time online submitting your site to directories? When i was marketing my website, I came across this very useful Directory tracker tool at www.totalwebtalk.com and that made things a lot easier as it stopped me from submitting my site many times to one directory.

Has anyone found directory submissions useful?

really, i never tried it, found article marketing much more effective in driving traffic to your site and the traffic is a lot more valuable and responsive than just submitting your site to various search engines.

from what i hear, a lot of ppl consider submitting to a lot of search engines useless, and that its more important to focus on the main search engines.

Yes I do submit to directories to boost up my PR. However I think that quality directories should be chosen only which can also drive you a little traffic too.

Search engines and web directories are 2 different things. its no use submitting your site all those 1000's of search engining but for every directory submission you get a back link so it improves your page rank and traffic.

I always thought directory submissions were smart. They don't take that long, and backlinks are ALWAYS good

I try to submit to as many as possible. I and many others have find it helps with SERPS. Suppose won't do any damage to PR of your site.

I submitted many of my sites to high PR directories. I usually approaches someone who will do quality directory submission for me.
