Forums for traffic?

Hello
Just a quick query, do many of you use forums for getting traffic to your sites in a related caetgory. i.e if you have a tennis site, post in a tennis forum?

Yes, posting in forums and using your urls in signatures is a good way to promote your site and gain traffic, another way is to go to the social networking sites.

I have found traffic has improved a lot especially when I make useful posts. Do you think it helps for PR also?

Traffic is what is important. A good PR helps you get traffic, but is not important in itself.

I find PR is just good for selling links etc and holding a bit more 'clout' than other sites. SERPS are not affected by this I don't think.

Yeah forums can be good for traffic, thats if you advertise and show off your link to forums related to your site. Including, its good for PR.

I would say about 60% of traffic comes from forums or forum related posts. I also like to buy banners in related forums for my sites - this is better than adwords I think.

Yes, Traffic do come from forum signatures if you post in relevant forums. You won't get thousands of visitors but anything you get is still free and targeted.

Posting in forums will bring you some direct traffic. It will also lead the search engines to your site. Then it's up to you to put original and fresh content on your site so that your pages will get indexed.

Forums also bring me loads of repeat visitors, as on forums you build up friendly 'relationships' with others, therefor they constantly check out your sites to se how you are doing etc.
