Well, a short domain name is better, but it should be descriptive one, also it has to be memorable domain name that are harder to mispell.
I recommend you to be more creative and make a list of as many words as you can describing the content of your website.

At first i need to know where you want to park this domain if you just want to buy this domain and putting there files then you should use different kind of words, like maybe youtube but with one latter mistake like youtbe or gogle with one o , and if it is adult domain then you should use words like hosting,girls or you can just call your domain earn2spendmoney.com , just put many words !!

The shorter domain is better, but it has to be descriptive somehow.
