I guess for really popular keywords, PR comes into play, but I have page 1 spots for several and my PR is only 3. There has got to be higher rated sites than mine. How does PR relate to SERPS? I know it's a closely guarded secret I guess, but what has been your experience?

I would prefer SERPs more than anything else. Just imagine getting ranked first in google first page for highly competitive keywords could mean high traffic flowing to your site. I would not bother much about PR except when selling links.

SERPS are highly more marketable and carry greater value than trying to keep tabs on link pages that may have a decrease in PR.

definitely serps come first, but if you have a higher page rank for a site i think you'll get a higher position in serp too for a certain keyword of your pr page, i have noticed this with my pr3 blog

Most that try to market towards PR are always held over the [lank until the next update.
