Its best to start with free hosting and switch to a paid host if you website begins to grow and pay for itself. Its really pointless to start a website with no guaranteed traffic or popularity on a paid host.

I'd rather start free. If your site is new and has little or no traffic, it's not worth paying for your hosting when you are not even indexed yet by Google. best to wait until it's more established before switching to a new paid host.

I would start free then build up on the hosting then proceed to paid.

I would go with paid hosting, as free hosting normally unreliable, site always down... slow server, and the support is very slow in responding to your problems.

I would start with free hosting, then when your website starts to make money and get big switch over to paid. Paid is better since you won't have downtime and stuff, but if you choose it at first it will put you in the negatives.

Its not easy to start a good free web hosting service unless you have a long term plan. many don;t like to use free hosting coz they sometimes vanish with their sites or put annoying ads. So providing a cheap paid hosting service is better.

Seriously? i would start with paid hositng (cheap, very cheap) enough to cover server costs, then when i get like triple what i pay, i start a free hosting to get more potential customers: free customers likely to upgrade to paying plan.

Regards
