I would recommend upgrading to phpBB3. It is much more sophisticated than the legacy version (phpBB2).
The only reliable VPS provider I have used in the past is Future Hosting... |

Have a look at Santrex.net VPS. They are one of the cheapest I have ever seen. + they might be good for game web hosting.
