Do you think it is recommended for forums owners to host their forums in a free host and is it hard to backup forums?

No, it's not recommended. You can't get control over your files and there are usually advertisements. Just use your own host, if you can.

no, there is a lot of forums in the net. if you want the users to use your forum, you need to invest money (hosting, script, design, domain). and it's easy to backup forum.. use your hosting support.

I think it is not advisable to do so or else you are looking for other problems. Free sites do not guarantee uptime and support.
