1.Google's name is a play on the word googol, which refers to the number 1 followed by one hundred zeroes. The term was coined by Milton Sirotta, nephew of American mathematician Edward Kasner, and was popularized in the book, "Mathematics and the Imagination" by Kasner and James Newman. 2.Google's play on the term reflects the company's mission to organize the immense amount of information available on the web.
3.Google started in January, 1996 as a research project at Stanford University, by Ph.D. candidates Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they were 24 years old and 23 years old respectively.
4.Google receives daily search requests from all over the world, including Antarctica.
5.It consisted of over 450,000 servers, racked up in clusters located in data centers around the world.
6.The Google search engine receives about a billion search requests per day.
They have their own Restaurant with Organic Meals that are served to all employees FREE.
7.The staff at Google are allowed 1 day a week to work at whatever interests them, and can be anything ranging from developing their own commercial website to whatever they like. The founders Page and Brin see this as expanding their knowledge and allowing this keeps the staff enthusiastic.
8.Most searched word on the Internet is ?Google? itself.
9.The same rule applies to the other search engine - including Live Search (Microsoft), Yahoo, and AOL- yes, the number one word typed into all these engines is? GOOGLE.

to add something to that innovations time off. employees are allowed a one day time off to work on their own projects. And fortunately this scheme brought us some useful sites like Orkut, Google news, AdSense

google is huge . if you use google search engine they will store your info and with the time they will know everything about you. pretty scarry if you ask me.
