The only problem may be the Credit card details that you need to keep with them.. But ya, auto renew is a really gud option..

Unfortunately there's not, however 10 years is fairly enough that you set a reminder, to renew your domain registration, it just requires some follow for your website.

Exactly the point of this thread... It sometimes is manually impossible to remember the Renewal of a Domain Name 10 yrs later.. It is also likely to skip the mail that is sent for Renewal... Hence, Auto Renew is a very useful feature for Domains that are important...

You can not renew your domain name for a life. Most of the registrar only allows to renew the domain name for the maximum 10 years. You can set your domain on auto renewal.

I guess some web hosting companies allow you to keep the domain name forever so long as you keep feeding them money to continue the hosting service.

This one has a simple answer... No.
Auto-renewal is not a bad option, if you know that you will always be able to afford the registration cost - year in, year out. I'd personally opt for registering a domain for multiple years, if I can afford it at the time.

Yes auto-renewal is a good choice if you want to keep your domain name for years to come. You just need to remember to always have money in whichever account you would use for your payment.

in 50-100 years a lot of things will change... so you might just waste your money... and if there would be a lifetime registration - it would be waaaaay to expensive I think
