Automated appraisal services may have some value IF they use very large datasets. Unfortunately, in the domain world - unlike the real estate world where most/all sales are reported - most sales are unreported so the "reported data" may be skewed by the sales practices and inventory-value of the largest data reporters.

Use automated tools as "one data point" to aid your price-setting IF you otherwise lack the tools to set values for yourself.

Tools = personal knowledge of the industry related to your domain(s), personal sales data, experience negotiating, years of tracking reported sales in forums/etc, personal connections to query about offers/value, ability to evaluate any inherent value in a domain, etc

Most of the appraisal sites should be viewed as entertainment only information. I hate to see someone pay to much for a domain based on estibot valuation.

When you are saying domain appraisal site , do you mean paid appraisal or automated free appraisal. I have never tried paid appraisal, but if you are looking at a free appraisal site try looking at DNScoop hope that helps.

And yes, it's true that appraisals can never be 100% accurate, but any half-decent domainer will be able to give you a fairly accurate valuation of a domain in a reseller market.

The domain appraisal sites usually are very inaccurate and sometimes makes you expect more for the domain name, so when you put the domain name for sale, the value is entirely different. There are no actual specified websites where I have seen good domain appraisal being done, but forums like digitalpoint, DNScoop, Namepros etc. have many domain name experts who can appraise domains on various factors like the age, keywords, TLD, competition in market etc.

So better to rely on those forums and discuss with the members rather than depending on single site.
