Re: Forum Signatures
Great article! A lot of the newer forum software is really cool because when you update your signature, it updates your signature everywhere it is shown in the forum, so you don't have to worry about old or dead links as long as you keep it updated. Personally, I pay attention to signatures sometimes, but I tend to ignore what I deem as blatant advertising.

Re: Forum Signatures
Nah I tend to read every signature along with the post. Sometimes you find some useful things other times not so much. Ive had some good response in the past from signature links and it doesnt hurt seo either

Re: Forum Signatures
Nice article. I agree, I look at signatures all the time. One other thing to keep in mind is that you should use an anchor text that is one of the search terms that you are trying to optomize your page for. This will also help position as well as PR.

Re: Forum Signatures
I honestly think forum signatures are a very nice way and CHEAP way to advertise. On certain forums you can see a nice result. Only because if you use the right anchor text you can attract curious people at any forum.
I must say nice article, I would add a few things but that's just me. A little more in depth would really be nice. Expecially for a newbie would really help.

Re: Forum Signatures
That's an interesting article. So if I am writing a travel blog, I should post with fair regularity on appropriate travel forums, not just the ones that happen to truly interest me? Or is the fact that a travel site doesn't interest me an indication that it isn't going to work well anyway?
gemtechnologies - Thanks, I never thought about the importance of the anchor text.

Re: Forum Signatures
I also read the forum sigs.
I think it is a great way for people to tell who they are. I don't really like it when people sell the space, it seems pointless to me. I wouldn't click on somthing on someones sig. if it wasn't their own business or product they are promoting.Online Marketing Click for my services
