I'm not really sure of this answer, but I just thought about it. It could be just because .com is more common and well known.

Well, as wreckadge said, .com is a more common domain name, think about when you first started using computers, did you know there was such a thing as a .info site?

If that's the case then why unknown extensions like some ccTLDs are way more expensive than .com??

What do you mean nobody wants them...obviously people buy them or they wouldn't be for sale. It's just that you haven't heard of many big sites with that name because they tend to switch over because .com is more common.

yup. .com is more common then the .info one. . .

that's why everyone like .com better than .info.

They are cheaper because they want more and more people to use it. be sure that the price will increase if there is gonna be enough "takers".

i think it's like that too:
they want more people to use it.
+ did you know that over 30% of .com domains are NOT used, they are just sitting there. I hate people who register domains wait 10 years and then sell it.
I want to kill them. You can wake up one morning, think of a great domain name, go search for it, it's in use. You contact the owner asking him if he wants to sell, he says yup sure!. 1000$! because it's been there for 5 years.

I hate them
