Submitting your sites to search engines is really not an effective way to bring in traffic...the search engines will find you, you don't need to find them

Instead...you should google key words for your forums and register at forums with the top results...Then...post there, including a link to your site in your signature...If you post respectable posts, people will visit your site.

Other things to do...put content (articles) in your site, build backlinks, and optimize your site for search engines (code)

some search engines i would submit your sites to are msn and yahoo, other than google.but i dont really suggest submitting them to your site, as like gtace said, they will find you.the best thing to do to get traffic to your site is just put the lnik in your signatures at forums, and post around, and just plain advertise wherever possible.

Google will find you...there is absolutely no need to find them...google actually PREFERS to find you, as opposed to the other way around. If they can find you, it usually means more than if you have to track them down

There are many other search engins excluding google that will help you gain more traffic to yer website..!

They are like; altavista, msn, yahoo, ask jeeves and many more of them which will help you get a rank in alexa.!

I second what GTAce has to say. Everything that I would do. You will find that posting to forum that are very popular will bring in a great many vistiors! Plus, if you think about it your posts on popular forum will be viewed 10K+ times each month. Which mean that forum signature advertising is a very interesting way to bring in people to your website.

Also, read up on SEO on how you can do it to your site. Yep, backlinks really count on google. I got 76 backlinks from a blog site and one of my sites only had a PR of 0 and after the google bar update my PR shot to a 5, because the site the link was posted to was a PR of 6. So, yes backlinks count. Make sure though they are backlinked from sites that are about the same as your site, because that counts also.
