Default Dealing with forum spammers

Why do so many people think that forum spamming is worth while? I've seen administrators dealing with dozens of spam posts a day even after bot prevention software was installed.

Those posts just get deleted! It's not worth it...right?

Well, most of us forum owners are actively monitoring our boards for this kind of stuff. But, a few boards are left unmonitored for some reason or another and if these spammers find the right board at the right time, they get a few backlinks out of their dasterdly deed. It's sad, but it pays off for some of these guys.

It is merely a case of quantity over quality. Usually it is just bots doing the spamming so it takes no more than a a few moments to set up. If out of the 1,000's of sites they hit only a couple dozen stay that makes it worth it to them. Unfortunately spam is a problem that will probably never go away.

You are talking about automated spamming, I presume? But there is a lot of spamming done by forum members, and that's a tougher question.

I have a lot of spamming at my forum too .
Like not tons, but everyday 2 or 3 spam posts...
I just delete them, and block those ip's .
One day I will have all ip's I hope... Then nobody can spam anymore .

lol Tine that'll take awhile - - always somebody new that can spam. However, just banning the IPs and not allowing proxy IP's is the best way to go

Yeah I know...
But that way they can't make new spam posts...
It's also since I am promoting my site at a site... Maybe I should just quit that...
But spam is really hatefull... It takes you so much time!!
But spam, is everywere, and I don't think we can do much about it...
There is even spam at the official site of a famous belgian artist...

Spammers flood the site , cousing trouble for other users , like they may bumb old topic and couse new ones to go down etc . They need to be suspented/banned .
