Saying goodbye to Yahoo Publisher Network!!

Yahoo Publisher Network informed us today that the traffic we send to advertisers is not of high quality, even though it is highly targeted and search engine generated. I explained that we get a lot of repeat traffic because we change the site regularly and that after the Panama change the ads stopped rotating and the same four advertisers started being shown over and over and over. Our CTR dropped and now apparently because the same people keep clicking on the same ads, the quality is deemed "low."

Well, of course! The advertisers are getting the same people who have probably already bought everything they are going to buy. This is not our fault. If the ads rotated, if there were variety in them, then the advertisers would be getting fresh visitors. But YPN apparently can't do that.

So, alas, we too are taking YPN off many of our sites. The handwriting is on the wall. It is a shame, because for quite some time YPN was our network of choice.
