Default How does PR works for Sub Domains ?

I have a site hosted in Sub domain which has more than 500 back links. This sites root folder hadn't had a home page. I had started getting traffic from Google but it never received even PR1 ! I heard somewhere that Google treats Sub domains separate from main domain, if so why my site didn't receive PR ?

I think sub domains divide up any PR the main page has.

That's probably why you're either a PR0 or have no PR information for the toolbar to get.

sub domain act as a regular domain, it will not affect the main domain. how old is your sub domain by the way ?

It might be a collective thing. Because in my site right now which is currently a PR2, my main page is still pretty empty and I only have a subdomain which is a forum. The subdomain comes up as PR2, and so does the main page (even if I just uploaded the main page).

I think Only main URL is Page ranked but I'm not sure that the Sub- domains have different page ranks !

That is very interesting topic! I think google have to treat only domains, because a lot of web-sites use their subdomains and it is nonsense for me, but it turns out that it doesn't here is the proof:

http://games.yahoo.com - PR 8
http://mail.yahoo.com - PR 9

I submitted my main site's site map to include one of my subdomains as /forum/ and that is the only subdomain that did not recieve a page rank on the last PR update (April 2007). I have since removed the forum from the site map and have submitted a sitemap for the forum.domain on its own.

The other 3 subdomains all got a pr 1 and also another /folder/ received a PR 1 without having much on it at all. I'm anxious to see how things level out on this coming update.

I have learned a few things since the beginning of the year, and have done a lot of retyping!

The subdomain is the same as a regular domain. It doesnt affect anything from your real domain. It wont affect you.
