Im pretty sure it is just backlinks. Backlins determine the importance of the website. An abandoned website whom someone continues to pay for the domain may still have a N/A pagerank despite it being ten years old. It wont all of a sudden get a PR2 or something, its unimportant to google

Not necessarily. If you have a site which you pretty much ignore or don't advertise well enough, people will never find your site and your PR will still be very low. I have some friends who have company websites that have been around for years now and their PR is still 0.

false, the most important factor of high pr is the content and the backlinks and not the aged of the site. But aged is important when it comes to se ranking.

I've never thought about that fact. In fact, if we think logically, the age shouldn't be a factor, so it shouldn't count. On the other side, there can be any dependency that any developed and good PR site, after a period of time, the conditions that are responsible for the PR become higher in some points, but cannot be caught, so Google can use the age as a trick.
sharkee's post prove that theory, because if the PR is 0 it will keep that way ![]() |

No, pr does not increase with age. It increases only with backlinks, because if they increase by age, then their would be tons of high pr websites.

PR of a site increases with the uniqueness of the content and the number of back links you have and that is why unique content industry is booming presently.

No not all. The page rank only increases with the content and backlinks of your site. If you place the right contents and backlinks, you may get a higher page rank in a shorter period of time.
