Default Ruby on Rails

Ruby on Rails has been making some noise lately. How true is the hype that this is an easy to use tool for webmasters in web development? I have yet to use this open source application.

I always keep meaning to take an in depth look at ruby on rails, I think I heard that it had some security issues recently but from the look of it you need to write a lot less code than say php to reach the same result.

But there's also a market for the same language but java can be more efficent.
