Is this a good way to advertise your website / services? Or does it show the lack of professionalism to your website / service?

well it depends on your site, if your site has some links with fun or entertainment or if its your personal site then it is a good medium, i have also seen profile on social networks only for the sole purpose of promoting sites.

How about proxies and arcade sites? Are they effective and allowed to be advertised on MySpace bulletins, profiles, comments..etc?

My opinion is that you should advertise your website it could help you. About proxy cites i dont know i would be glad to know it to .
