Default Awstats vs. Google Analytics

In your opinion what do you think is better to use to keep track of site statistics?

I personally use google analytics and it has been working well, but, I have never really tried awstats. So, what do you think?

Well, if you have cPanel, then you are using AwStats and you don't even know it.

I used to use Google Analytics, but it is a hassle putting the code on every single page. It does certainly give a lot of information about where users are coming from, but I like the simplicity and rare features that AwStats offers.

if you want to get an full idea of traffic stats of your site you have to use both AWStats and Google Analytics both give important info in different formats.

I use both. I check my awstats daily but I have analytics installed and will check it periodically simply to see stats that I do not get with awstats.

Our dedicated server doesn't have Cpanel/AWStats by our request, so I have is Webalizer, which isn't very informative. So I use Google Analytics a lot. The best way to implement the code is to have a central header file for all your pages. Also that method makes it easier to change the site if you want as a whole.

I prefer Google Analytics than the former. Google analytics gives me very accurate stuff.

I use three of stats in my blog, google analtics, statcounter and sitemeter, although statcounter and sitemeter gives same result but google analytics is the best.

If you use the free version of statcounter then they allow you limited number of records. I think its like 100 recored they keep for free account.

well i used only google analytics till i loged into my perosnal hosting's analysis software, now i have made it a thumb rule to use both of them,

I think that same stands true for awstats and analystics.

and i don't realy like using free counters excepts the clustrmap which is only a graphical representation of geographical diversity of your traffic.

There was a heat map tool which used to be very useful. It showed areas where people clicked on links. It was useful to understand places which had taken peoples attention .
