Vbulletin is shareware and need to pay for it... phpBB freeware but limited items. Would you try driverguide.com for searching software and hardware??

I always go with the open source solutions so i would have to say that i prefer phpbb because i believe the most support the project gets the most features we get in return
At the other hand vanilla looks promising

i think vbulletin is the best because has Fast and efficient database back end,
has a powerful search engine, has unlimited forum/post,but cost matter a bit

phpbb3 is the latest version and SMFs lastest version is 2 which is still on beta. I think SMF2 might be better than phpBB3.

For me, it would have to be invision. It is just so easy to install, use and customize. But, I have gotten hacked once.

There have been major security issues with PHPBB in the past, but as far as I can tell PHPBB3 is very tightly secured right now - the question is how long will that last.
