What is an effective way to earn from PPL?

I am a member of an affilitate program that contains many PPL (pay per lead) offers. How ever I don't know which is the best or more effective way of producing leads for these type of offers.

To do it through adwords and have a great landing page rather than letting the users to land directly on the ppl page itself, this is the most effective method suggested by giants in affiliate marketing.

People are usually turned off by a page that is just strictly marketing and nothing else. On the landing page, talk about different items that relate to that particular item that you are trying to sell. This will not only give you keywords for the SERPS, but a targetted audience as well. For instance, if the site is about cell phones, then write about the latest cell phones.
