Best place for PHP tutorials

What is the best place to learn to write php scripts such as simple social networking scripts or learning to write plugins for social networking scripts. Just tutorials will help increase my knowledge of PHP and more beyond the basics.

Your best bet would be pixel2life.com, its a great site with many listing of PHP tutorials (literally thousands). And of course, the PHP manual; an introduction to PHP: http://www.php.net/manual/en/introduction.php - if you carry on going through the manual you'll see it explains about if statements, loops and many, many functions that are of PHP. At the start of PHP, you're better off making small scripts, and then keep learning until you're an experienced PHP programmer. Only code something you're capable of doing. Oh, and btw - Google is your friend! Good luck!

try using a framework like www.codeigniter.com which is a really good framework with tonnes of features and is 100% open source
