Default phpBB 3 VS SMF 2

Anyone have tried phpBB3 and SMF2 or one of them ? I was told lot of good about both of those and I wonder which is the best. Currently I use SMF 1.1.5. I have started thinking about moving to phpBB3 but SMF2 holding me.

naturally phpbb3. I don't like smf2 because it doesn't have a lot of themes and I don't speak about modifications (mod).
Phpbb3 is in development about themes and modifications because it has just been released.

Well few months ago i would had agreed with you about the themes. There weren't many good once. But recently I found so many good SMF themes which change my mind about them.

But It's easier to edit a phpbb template than smf template.
Phpbb community is bigger than smf community too and I have always solve my problems.

I've been using smf for some time now and find it very nice. One mod that I've recently installed that has worked very well is a search engine friendly url mod. The mod was incredibly easy to install and works better than any other sef url mod I've seen so far.

You mean that "pretty urls" mod ? I wanted to install it for a while now but I didn't coz I'm worried it would mess the forum. Can you tell me how did you install it ?

PHPBB has more mods and themes than SMF and has a larger community who can solve problems in few time and if we consider technical thing PhpBB is powerfull than SMF in performance (server) and security too. I mean the new phpBB version has gone through a lot of work to make it nearer to class of vbulletin

I prefer phpBB over SMF. I know SMF is meant to be simple but it's too simple for me.
I don't like the way it looks and I don't like the admin control panel.
