How to increase traffic on web site?

Hi Friends---> I have been sorta busy offlate in plaaning to launch my new forum site. Couple of things that i am planning to increase the traffic is to launch contests, give away some incentives for posting and some bonus for first 10 users. What do u suggest??

Yes. Some bonus like feature is good for increasing traffic... You may offer something to your user in order to increase the userbase, traffic etc. like cash points, linkback opportunities, ad banner space or similar things...

if you can pay the users in cash or kind as reward for their good work then as well it can be a great motivational factor to make users join and work for your site

Hmm just make sure you've got good content on your forum, and good publicity on other forums, then good traffic should come as people start looking for content.

i agree with JohnKau the forum need to include a got content, after that give a push to the forum by paying a few posters to post on your forum and the other ones will come by them self.
there are a lot of ways to advertise your forum so you will get a lot of traffic, like puting a banner in a big site that have a lot of traffic everyday, that should be effective i think.
