Why is php 5 so rare?

I'd love to hear an answer to this question. Why is it that so few website hosts support php5 when it is more than a year old now?

I am wondering that too. Hm. I hope someone knows...

As far as I know, PHP 5 doesn't support a lot of previous PHP coding... causing existing customer's scripts to stop working.

Actually, PHP 5 does support the previous coding.... The only difference is that they added some new commands and some abreviations to be more practical than the other versions.

Usually, hosts don't upgrade their servers because they're LAZY

There are also not that many scripts around that run PHP5, most don't need it to run, thus hosts are in no hurry to update their systems when it's not particularly necessary.

its not easy to compete with new version and changing server. it could create new problems in servers too.

Well, maybe because a host doesn't want to upgrade, not neccisarily because there lazy, it might be because it will cause downtime and they can't afford to have downtime.
