I've tried a trial version a long time ago. I mainly use Frontpage 2002 to make websites.

Well, since you have tried Dreamweaver, do you think Frontpage 2002 is better than Dreamweaver? what would you recommend a newby?

Most of professionals once used Dreamveawer like a HTML editor and they recommend it, now they many go back to simple notepad. FrontPage seems to be a little out of date, since I heard only for few who use it.
Some free HTML editors exist though: NotePad ++ Crimson Editor ConText PSPad |

I've used it once... I really didn't like it though itr was kinda confusing... I stick to HTML CSS, and PHP & MySQL... Nothing against it... If I had it and learned how to use it I might actually have a better webpage than I do now LOL.

I recommend Dreamweaver. I am using Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Dreamweaver 8 features also looks good. For newbies it is highly recommended. The features i like most are...
1. Templates (One change would reflect in whole site) 2. Putting objects into html file is so easy. 3. Navigating to a position of HTML is easy (for hand coders like me) 4. Easy build-in javascripts for preload image, popup, validation, etc 5. Easy integration with PHP/MySQL, ASP, etc. so that you can easily build register, log-in, master-details page, etc without coding knowledge.
