Which forum software is the best? (free)

Topic says all, which free forum software is the best ???

I want to know that also, posted a new topic in other category. I know only the phpBB which is free.. What do you know, tomass? Can you list some of them here?

As i said in lithuania's post, i dont know any of other free except phpBB, but i'd personally use vBulletin, because i've heard it is the best!

For free forum software, I always go with phpBB2 (haven't tried 3 yet as it is still in the release candidate stage). It looks the nicest and has the easiest to find good looking skins. The other options are SMF and MyBB.

I have two free forum softwares to consider:
phpBB and SMF.
Anyway, the only thing that makes SMF better than phpBB is that it's much easier to install mods in SMF than in phpBB.

I know of simple machines forum I do not know whether it is free but it is very good a lot of people recommend it

i would go for PHPBB invisions.. most of the forums that i visited they use this application.. very handy...

I like phpBB, but if it were up to me I'd rather pay a few bucks for a paid forum script that has no security flaws.

I would go for PhpBB, i wouldn't pay for vB, NEVER! PhpBB is just as good as vB, and PhpBB 3 will be way better and i am sure it will go big as soon it releases its final update.
