Default Do web host companies close accounts with high bandwidth usage?

Hi to everyone,

I heard a few times that web host companies close accounts that have a very high bandwidth usage. Is this true? Does anybody else experienced this?
If I have like 5TB bandwidth per month, and I use like 20% of it, is my account at risk to be closed?
Thanks in advance.

it really depends on the webhosting company. and wether they oversell or not. The more they oversell the more of a chance you have your account being closed.

NO they don't close your account when you use high bandwidth. But they will close your account if you use high cpu resources.

If you go over the allotted bandwith they may close it. Or they will simply make you pay a fee.

They can close it if that is what is in their AUP statement. It always helps to read their AUP and TOS carefully to see what their policy is. Not all have the same policy. When they say unlimited, there is usually a limit in the fine print that you are not allowed to cross.

The thing which make a hosting company worried is high cpu resources not bandwidth usage. When you buy bandwidth you buy a certren amount for yr price if you exceed it they will ask you to upgrade your account.

If you're paying then no because you have paid for that specific amount of bandwidth. They cannot suspend you for using your own bandwidth.

Normally, the web hosting companies cannot do this. However, if you are using some strange web host, it might be possible. The companies sometime state in their TOS that if you use a specified amount of bandwidth (eg. 25%) in a very less time duration (15-20 mins.) they can suspend your account as it might affect other accounts.
