I don't understand what you mean. If you're asking that if using host's affiliate features to make money then yeah its a good idea but quite hard to get people to use your referral id.

Hostgator is the best webhosting affiliate program in CJ and otherwise. It offers $100 as commission for a single singup. That's quite huge and even if you are able to convert even 1 or 2 referrals a month, that would be great.

It seems great but I think getting 1-2 referrals is not that easy. You need a good site with mass traffic to earn something.

A good site with mass traffic will be able to earn a lot from Hostgator. You can create a custom webpage for Hostgator. You can include information about Hostgator's good features and include some discount coupons. Even if you are able to drive a few customers to such a webpage, you will be able to convert atleast 1 or 2 visitors.

I have used hostgator affiliate in the past. I got many clicks but very few sales. I am not a fan of hosting affiliates anymore, simply becuase of this.
