Default Is it possible to get a domain for life?

I am tired of this 1 year, 2 year domain expiry...And top of it, if one forgets to renew the domain name, your complete efforts of building a brand name goes down the drain.

I ask everyone...is it possible to buy a domain name for life?

Regards,

Right

Well, you cannot register your domain name for life.

However most Registries allow you to renew your Domain for a maximum of 10 years.

The maximum you can get is for 10 years. But i have seen some country TLDs offering upto 100 years, but this need to be verified

You can look for domain registrars which allow more than 10 years of domain registration but there's nothing like domain for life.

I would love to have 100 years on a premium domain name. You know in 50 years when all the .coms are taken, supermegawickedfreehostforumclickhereforthat112.com is gonna be worth millions then, or pennies now. Though with the inflation, that'll be the same.

So maybe think carefully if you want a domain name for lots of years. I swear godaddy used to offer 15 year regs, dunno about anymore though.

Well, are you confident enuf... coz i know that the Registrar agreement with ICANN has it that a Domain name cannot be registered for more than 10 years at one go... so im assuming that a Domain can be registered for a max of 10 yrs...

in fact, even .In domains, just recently got the go ahead for a 10 years maximum registration.. Previously the max was 5..

Yes I too agree with the other members - 10 years is the maximum period one can renew his domains. But why are you so concerned when many Domain registrars offer the feature of "Auto Renewal"? I guess it can help you.
