i used to use frames to make ite easier for me to update navigation, but now I use php include() for everything, so long as php is availible, if not server-side includes

I think using frames is an out dated thing. It gives a classic look, so I never use them.

I also hate frames, I believe Google doesn't crawl them very well.
There are other goo techniques for navigations.

Well yes, frames are terrible. Usually myself, when I see a site with frames, I am closing it and quickly. Only frames, what I can look is iframes, and they are a bit of noobish too. Frames are history, nobody uses them these days. It is time for new technology.

Few years ago I had 2-3 sites on IFRAME. It was a nice way to have 1 page with the main design and make the content pages in the frame. I didn't have php/mysql support back then and it was a trick for me to manage 30 pages of content without having to redesign all of them. I used 1 to display the layout and the content pages were "default" and would load inside.

I do not touch I frames in my opinion they are ugly and spoil a good design, instead of using Iframes I would use a php include as this is a better way of displaying the information
